completed or are currently enrolled in a master’s in engineering
program. Fellowships may be used at any participating University where
the Fellow is admitted. Ph.D. Science Fellowship Program: The
goal of this program is to increase the number of minority students
who pursue doctoral degrees in the natural science disciplines:
chemistry, physics, earth sciences, mathematics, biological sciences,
and computer science. Fellowships offered through this program are
portable and may be used at any participating University where the
Fellow is admitted.

ELIGIBILITY
Candidates are selected from the following under-represented
minority groups: American Indian/Native, African American/Black, or
Hispanic American/Latino. The applicant must be a U.S. citizen at the
Employer Member; and full tuition and fees at a GEM Member
University. For Ph.D. Engineering Fellows, the sponsor pays
the stipend and a cost of instruction grant to the institution where
the fellow is enrolled during the first academic year of doctoral
study. Thereafter, the total fellowship cost is borne by the
participating University. Fellows are provided a practical summer work
experience through the Employer Member for at least one summer.

This opportunity serves as a recruitment tool for prospective graduate students to visit the University of Georgia campus. This program follows along with the University of Georgia’s strategic plan to create a more diverse environment by recruiting students from underrepresented populations. Graduating seniors and alumni from various institutions, including all Georgia colleges and universities, minority-serving institutions, and graduate preparation programs are invited to apply.

The Future Scholars Visitation Program is an excellent opportunity for students who are seriously considering the University of Georgia’s Graduate School to come to campus and visit their prospective department. The goal of this visitation is to allow students to meet with faculty, administration, and current graduate students in their specific area of academic interest while learning more about graduate school. During the three day program students will:

* Network with fellow prospective students
* Attend informational sessions with Graduate School representatives
* Receive feedback on their application and statement of purpose
* Learn more about funding opportunities
* Participate in social events

Tour the UGA campus and city of Athens As part of our commitment to diversity, The Graduate School will cover lodging and most meals during this 3-day event and a $100 reimbursement will be provided towards transportation (individual airfare, shuttle, mileage and/or parking). Currently enrolled UGA students are not eligible to receive the travel reimbursement, but are eligible to participate.

In order to be considered for this program, selected students will be required to apply online, submit a statement of purpose, three academic letters of recommendation (each addressing the prospective academic department), official transcripts, and a ~ Michelle
