The purpose of this seminar is to expose students to various pathways one can pursue with a chemistry/physical sciences degree.

I have attached the flyer for our SDG&E Industry Tour on Monday, October 24, 2011 from 7:30 am – 1:00 pm. Our students will have the opportunity to tour the Distribution and Grid Control Center & Mission Substation at SDG&E in Mission Valley. The MVP in conjunction with the Historically Black Institution (HBI) Visitation Program provide the opportunity for outstanding, undergraduate minority students interested in pursuing graduate studies to visit the Purdue University West Lafayette campus. Generally, students selected to participate in this program have relatively high GPA’s and a strong likelihood of gaining admission to one of Purdue’s STEM graduate programs. During the three-day visit, students tour campus facilities, receive a comprehensive view of departmental programs, and meet with faculty, administrators, and graduate students.

Join us for a half-day’s exploration of the power of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM).

Engineers, educators and STEM experts will share their knowledge and experience with eighth graders, parents and teachers.

Teams of MESA & SPSD students design “buoyancy shoes”, and student “shoe pilots” race across the length of the pool. Competition allows students to gain experience at applying applying the engineering design process; solving open-ended problems.
