It starts with what President Obama said in his State of the Union address about the importance of science and engineering education. It goes on to detail the reality of how we are losing the world’s best and brightest talent. I discuss my research. Many of my students are also featured in this along with my mentor at UC-Berkeley, AnnaLee Saxenian.

inClass is a student organizer/note taker application designed for high school and college students. It allows students to take notes, photos, and record audio and video to supplement their class annotations and share this annotations between each other; besides keeping track and alerting them of their class schedule, homework, exams, and instructorsʼ information and office hours. Its first version was released on September 2010.

First the good news: More women are getting Ph.D.s than men, capping a decades-long march toward parity. And it’s not just in the humanities and social sciences. They also outnumber their male colleagues in the biological and health sciences. But the bad news is that they’re less likely to enter and remain in scientific careers. Beyond the doctoral level, the ratio of women to men starts to dip below one.
