<p>OBJECTIVES:  The sponsor provides three Fellowship Programs:<br />
MS Engineering Fellowship Program: The objective of this program is<br />
to promote the benefits of a masters degree within industry.  Fellows<br />
are provided practical engineering summer work experiences through an<br />
employer sponsor and a portable academic year fellowship of tuition,<br />
fees, and a stipend which may be used at any participating University<br />
where the Fellow is admitted.   Ph.D. Engineering Fellowship<br />
Program:  The objective of this program is to offer doctoral<br />
fellowships to underrepresented minority students who have either<br />
completed or are currently enrolled in a master&#8217;s in engineering<br />
program. Fellowships may be used at any participating University where<br />
the Fellow is admitted.   Ph.D. Science Fellowship Program: The<br />
goal of this program is to increase the number of minority students<br />
who pursue doctoral degrees in the natural science disciplines:<br />
chemistry, physics, earth sciences, mathematics, biological sciences,<br />
and computer science. Fellowships offered through this program are<br />
portable and may be used at any participating University where the<br />
Fellow is admitted.</p>
<p>ELIGIBILITY<br />
Candidates are selected from the following under-represented<br />
minority groups: American Indian/Native, African American/Black, or<br />
Hispanic American/Latino.  The applicant must be a U.S. citizen at the<br />
time of application.  MS Engineering Program Applicants must be a<br />
junior, senior, or graduate of an accredited engineering or computer<br />
science program at the time of application, and must have a minimum<br />
cumulative grade point average of 2.8/4.0. Ph.D. Program Applicants<br />
must be a senior, masters student, or graduate of an accredited<br />
engineering or applied science program at the time of application; and<br />
must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0/4.0.  MS Fellows are<br />
required to intern for a GEM Employer Member the summer immediately<br />
following selection up until the M.S. requirements are completed.<br />
Ph.D. fellows are required to intern once for a GEM Employer Member<br />
the summer immediately following selection. Fellowships offered<br />
through this program are portable and may be used at any participating<br />
GEM Member University where the GEM Fellow is admitted.  A listing of<br />
GEM member universities is available from the sponsor&#8217;s web site.</p>
<p>FUNDING<br />
MS Engineering Fellows receive: a $10,000 stipend over 3 semesters<br />
/ four quarters; a minimum of two paid summer internships with a GEM<br />
Employer Member; and full tuition and fees at a GEM Member<br />
University.    For Ph.D. Engineering Fellows, the sponsor pays<br />
the stipend and a cost of instruction grant to the institution where<br />
the fellow is enrolled during the first academic year of doctoral<br />
study. Thereafter, the total fellowship cost is borne by the<br />
participating University. Fellows are provided a practical summer work<br />
experience through the Employer Member for at least one summer.<br />
Ph.D. Science Fellows receive: a $14,000 stipend in the first year of<br />
the PhD program; Member University support for the second through<br />
fifth years, equivalent to other funded doctorate students in the<br />
department; a minimum of one paid summer internship with a GEM<br />
Employer Member; and full tuition and fees at a GEM Member University.<br />

<p>Scholarships</p>
<p>The AGC Foundation offers both undergraduate and graduate level scholarships to students enrolled in ABET or ACCE-accredited construction management or construction related engineering programs.</p>
<p>Who&#8217;s eligible?</p>
<p>Undergraduate Scholarships: College sophomores and juniors enrolled or planning to enroll in a full-time, four or five-year ABET or ACCE-accredited construction management or construction-related engineering program are eligible to apply. High school seniors and college freshmen are not eligible.</p>
<p>Graduate Scholarships: College seniors enrolled in an undergraduate construction management or construction-related engineering degree program, or others possessing an undergraduate degree in construction management or construction-related engineering are eligible to apply. The applicant must be enrolled, or planning to enroll, in a graduate level construction management or construction-related engineering degree program as a full-time student.<br />
How much money is available?</p>
<p>Our renewable undergraduate scholarships are worth $2,500 per year for each year of undergraduate study, up to a maximum of $7,500. Over 100 new scholarships are awarded each year. Best of all, there is no application fee.</p>
<p>The Saul Horowitz, Jr. Memorial Graduate Award and the Heffner Scholarships for Graduate Students are worth $7,500 each, paid in two installments of $3,750.<br />
How do you apply?</p>
<p>Starting July 1 every year you can apply for an AGC Foundation Scholarship either online or via mail.</p>
<p>Applications for the 2011-2012 academic year will be posted July 1, 2010.<br />
What is the deadline to enter?</p>
<p>All scholarship applications must to be postmarked by November 1st to be considered for the upcoming year.<br />
When will scholarship recipients receive their money?</p>
<p>All scholarship semi-finalists will be notified in February. Upon completion of a personal interview with an AGC contractor and final recommendation by the contractor, your scholarship check will be mailed to you in August, just prior to the Fall term.</p>

<p>The PBSJ Minority Engineering Scholarship Program assists students of African American, Asian, Pacific Island, Native American, Native Alaskan or Hispanic decent in completing their higher education in civil and environmental engineering programs.</p>
<p><strong>Upon meeting the program criteria</strong><em>, (SDSU MEP/MSP students) scholarship recipients are selected through a competitive process—only one student from each university can be awarded the scholarship each year. A local selection committee, composed of PBSJ technical management and human resources personnel, chooses the recipient. </em></p>
<p><em>Half of the $4,000 scholarship is awarded for tuition during the fall semester and the remaining half for the spring semester. All scholarship funds are paid directly toward the student’s tuition.<br />
Scholarship recipients may also be offered summer internships or full-time work upon graduation.</em></p>
<p><em> PBSJ is very excited to have the opportunity to provide this scholarship.  We hope that many of your students will also be excited about this opportunity and that they will submit their application for consideration.<br />

My office is in SDSU Engineering Building, room 208a.  I will forward all qualified and complete applications I receive to PBS&amp;J on June 10, 2010. </em></p>
