The San Diego Foundation has contacted my office to request assistance with advertising their 2012-2013 scholarship opportunities that are available to SDSU students in engineering. Here are three that may be of particular interest to your students:
HELM FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP
The Helm Family Scholarship is open to students who:
• Are entering their junior or senior year at San Diego State University.
• Have declared a major in mathematics or a scientific field such as, but not limited to, biology, computer science, chemistry, engineering, physics, etc.
• Have a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
• Have demonstrated financial need.
• Special consideration will be given to students who are employed or have participated in extra‐curricular activities or community service.
REUBEN H. FLEET MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
The Reuben H. Fleet Memorial Scholarship is open to students who:
• Are currently enrolled at a university in San Diego County pursuing an undergraduate degree in science, engineering or math.
• Have completed 54 semester units or 72 quarter units.
• Have maintained a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
TOM CHAPMAN CIVIL ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP
The Tom Chapman Civil Engineering Scholarship is open to students who:
• Are currently attending San Diego State University.
• Will declare or have already declared a major in civil engineering.
• Have a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale (high school GPAs are unweighted).
• Are actively involved in serving the community as demonstrated by extra‐curricular activities, community and church service, and/or work experience.
• Are United States citizens.
• Have demonstrated financial need.
• Special consideration will be given to students focusing on construction materials and/or geo‐technical coursework.
