GIS TECHNICIAN

Minimum Requirements:
• Candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in GIS or Computer Science, Information Systems, Geography, Engineering or related field with emphasis and/or certificates in GIS.
Ideal candidate will have:
• Knowledge of principles and techniques of GIS to support enterprise GIS efforts, including knowledge of computer hardware, GIS and database software, web development, data capture and maintenance techniques.
• Programming, database management or web development skills with GIS focused coursework/experience OR GIS skills with programming/database management/web development focused coursework/experience.
• Exposure to ArcObjects, Python, .NET, SQL, VB, VB.NET, C#, C++, HTML, XML, Java, JavaScript, Flex
• 3 dimensional awareness (3-D)
• The ability to think logically.
• To concentrate and pay close attention to detail. The ability to effectively and efficiently solve problems in an innovative manner to enhance the productivity, efficiency and ‘user experience’ of others.
Key Responsibilities:
• Creating, maintaining and QA/QC of geographic data sets using ArcGIS.
• Developing GIS data with GPS, 3D laser scanning, data extraction from various sources including: people, paper, imagery, CAD, spreadsheets, databases, text files, etc.
• Creation of mapping products using ArcGIS for various departments.
• Authoring and utilizing models and scripts to automate GIS processes.
• Authoring and maintaining web pages/documents/applications using various programming languages for GIS, 3D Laser Scanning and other line of business systems.
• Data file management for GIS and 3D Laser Scanning.
• Interface with and configuration of enterprise class applications such as ArcGIS Server, Microsoft SQL Server, content management system, CADD management support.
