CyberQuest Flyer3’12

We are pleased to announce that the VISA and Bay Area Council have partnered with San Jose State University (SJSU) to host a U.S. Cyber Challenge Summer Camp at SJSU.
All interested participants must qualify for an invitation to a camp by completing the Cyber Quests online competition.
Registration for Cyber Quests is open from April 4 – 16 at www.USCyberChallenge.org (“competitions”) and http://uscc.cyberquests.org/ . *

* The Cyber Quests competition will take place April 16 – 30.

Based on their Cyber Quest performance, some students may be eligible for summer camp scholarships to cover room and board. We hope to able to offer scholarships to all attendees at the SJSU camp (up to 100 campers).

The SJSU camp will be held from August 5 – 10, 2012. At the summer camp, students will engage in web-delivered training sessions and exercises on topics ranging from network intrusion detection to forensics. Classes will be taught by leading industry professionals, faculty members from various universities, security practitioners across industries and the U.S. government. An ethics panel, hosted by FBI representatives, and a career and internship fair with major technology companies and government agencies will be included. The camp will culminate with a “capture the flag” competition in which campers use their newly acquired knowledge to battle live attacks from hackers.
Contestants must be U.S. citizens and 18 years or older by August 1, 2012. They may be, but do not have to be, college students. Further, they can be residents of any state in the U.S. There are six camps in the U.S. The San José State University camp (August 5 – 10) will host campers who reside in the West. Please forward this information to colleagues in higher education and/or any other potentially interested contacts in California and across the U.S.

Get more information about the San Jose camp and watch a video of former participants talking about their Cyber Challenge Summer Camp experience at www.CACyberChallenge.org . The SJSU camp will be held from August 5 – 10, 2012.
