Systems Biology Fellowships
Systems biology aims to integrate experimental and computational approaches to answer fundamental questions about biological networks at a systems level. VBI has established Systems Biology Fellowships. These fellowships will provide an opportunity to spend ten summer weeks working within one of the ongoing systems biology research projects. Room and board, travel, and stipend are provided. Application deadline is February 6, 2009.
Bioengineering/Bioinformatics Summer Institute (BBSI)
BBSI is a summer program designed for junior or senior level undergraduates who are interested in attending graduate school in biomedical engineering and/or bioinformatics. Funding from the National Science Foundation/National Institutes of Health, VBI and the Virginia Tech-Wake Forest University School of Biomedical Engineering and Science (SBES) coordinate this ten-week educational and research experience, which emphasizes major research areas: Computational Systems Biology, Computational Bio-Imaging, Computational Physiology, and Mathematics.
Housing, meals, travel, and a stipend are provided. The application deadline is February 6, 2009.
Research Experience for Undergraduate Site: Modeling and Simulation in Systems Biology (MSSB)
Program for rising junior and seniors is modeling and simulation of biological networks, from intracellular biochemical networks to networks at organism and population levels, through study of the spread of epidemics in social networks. Partnership between VBI and Interdisciplinary Center for Applied Mathematics at Virginia Tech, program provides travel costs, on-campus housing, meals, social activities, and a stipend. Application review will begin February 6, 2009 until all positions are filled.
