The VU-EDGE Program is collaborating with GEM (The National Consortium for Graduate Degrees for Minorities in Engineering and Science, Inc.) to host a graduate recruitment event at Vanderbilt University from Thursday, October 28, 2010 through Saturday, October 30, 2010. The VU- EDGE Program will fund travel and lodging for the fifty (50) students who will be invited to attend this event. Participation in this event is by invitation only.
Juniors and seniors who are majoring in a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) field, are a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, are from an under-represented minority group (African Americans, Hispanics/Latinos, and Native Americans), and are interested in pursuing a Ph.D. in a discipline offered at Vanderbilt may apply to participate in this event. Students must have earned a minimum 3.25 cumulative GPA and have a minimum GPA of 3.5 in their major. Also, students must NOT have been a participant in an extra-mural research experience at Vanderbilt.
Selected participants will be transported to and from the Nashville International Airport by shuttle on their arrival and departure dates. Transportation will also be provided to and from Vanderbilt University to the host hotel. Participants will share a double room, and all meals will be provided during the event.
