REACH recruitment event for prospective Ph.D. students

The USC Viterbi School of Engineering proudly announces its REACH recruitment event for prospective Ph.D. students, Thursday, October 21-Saturday, October 23, 2010.

REACH brings to the campus talented students from all over the U.S. who plan on, or are seriously considering, pursuing a Ph.D. in an engineering field. This event is particularly geared toward students from backgrounds that are historically underrepresented in the field of engineering: African-American, Latino and Native American. Travel expenses, hotels and meals are all paid for by the USC Viterbi School.

If you are seriously considering pursuing a Ph.D. in engineering and are entering your junior or senior year or are a recent graduate in an engineering, mathematics or physical science major, I invite you to apply to REACH. As a selected participant, you will attend presentations by faculty about doctoral research opportunities; will tour the campus and the engineering facilities, including labs; will meet with current students to discuss graduate student life; will discuss applying for admission and financial aid with experienced engineering staff; and will interact with prospective and current engineering students as well as faculty and staff. Visiting the Viterbi School is the best way to experience what USC has to offer.

The following web site contains additional information and the application to participate in this year’s REACH event: http://viterbi.usc.edu/admission/phd/reach-recruitment-of-engineering-achievers.htm . The deadline to apply is Wednesday, September 29th, 2010.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact Margery Berti, Associate Dean of Doctoral Programs at berti@usc.edu.
