UC Santa Barbara College of Engineering Graduate School Preview Day, scheduled to take place on September 12, 2011 at the UC Santa Barbara campus. We are seeking underrepresented minority scholars interested in pursuing a graduate education in the fields of Computer Science, Chemical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. Scholars should be sophomores, juniors or seniors serious about pursuing a graduate education in Engineering and should possess a GPA of 3.0 or above. We would be very grateful if you would share this information with your colleagues and students.

This event is supported by the National Science Foundation/Alliance for Graduate Education and the Professoriate (AGEP) and is designed to increase the number of underrepresented minorities our in Ph.D. programs in engineering and computer science. The Graduate School Preview Day will provide scholars with a broader understanding of the opportunities available through a graduate education in engineering at UC Santa Barbara; the agenda will include application and funding workshops, facilities tours, graduate student panels and significant interaction with UC Santa Barbara faculty and researchers from different engineering research areas.

Funding for travel expenses is available. We can fund air or ground transportation and accommodation for the night prior to the event, Sunday, September 11th. Breakfast and lunch on Friday will be provided. However, space is limited so we should receive applications no later than August 29, 2011 for consideration.

Along with our informational flyer, I have attached a Scholar Application Form. Interested students should complete this brief form and return it to Walter Boggan to no later than August 29th, 2011.
