Genome Institute at Washington University, St. Louis

Greetings from the Outreach group at The Genome Institute at Washington University in St. Louis. We are seeking highly talented students for our programs, Opportunities in Genomics Research (OGR). The OGR programs are directed to increasing the number of underrepresented students who pursue Ph.D.’s in genomics and related fields. OGR provides students with a mentored research experience at Washington University, as well as other engaging activities to prepare students for competitive Ph.D. programs. We have two OGR programs that may be of interest to your students, Undergraduate Scholars, an eight-week summer program and Extensive Study, a one-year post-baccalaureate program. Both programs include conducting research with premier investigators in genomics and genetics as well as disciplines such as: cancer biology, molecular biology, immunology, and others. We provide a competitive stipend/salary, housing (summer program only), and travel to St. Louis. To learn more and view past participants, visit our website at http://genome.wustl.edu/outreach. We have attached a flier to pass along to your students. We have designated slots for freshmen students and we ask that you encourage these students to apply.

If you are interested in a seminar for your students regarding the work at The Genome Institute or on preparing for a career in STEM, please contact our office (see information below).

Also for the first time we will be hosting a live OGR webinar in November, where you and your students can meet program staff and ask questions about the program. Details will be forthcoming and we will post on FB, twitter and our website.
