Today’s workshop will focus on large system design. These systems can be for multifamily buildings, schools, laundromats, or military facilities for example. We will discuss multiple large system applications and will address how to evaluate a site in terms of loads, distribution and solar access, the economies of scale and tax benefits, how to select components (collectors, storage, heat exchangers, pumps, etc.), and how to simulate these systems using programs like FChart and TRNSYS. Guest speakers to be announced. This installment of Skip’s Tips is for an advance audience level. PLEASE NOTE: This event will be held at the Energy Innovation Center. Skip Fralick, has over 30 years of experience in the Solar Thermal industry, and is currently the Solar Water Heating Energy Engineer at CCSE. He has participated in numerous technical committees and trained contractors. He is also a LEED Accredited Professional, an AEE Certified Energy Manager, and a BPI Professional. Skip’s passion is Solar Thermal, so if you have technical questions about this technology, come to CCSE for an informal chat with Skip and other industry stakeholders. **Please note that this an advanced workshop intended for people with experience in Solar Thermal. If you are interested in basic Solar Thermal information, please attend the “Solar Water Basics for Homeowners” workshop at www.energycenter.org/calendar. |
