SDSU Students Study Abroad Scholarship

Associated Students Study Abroad Scholarship Applications Avaialble online – DEADLINE FEB 2, 2009!

Students Study Abroad Scholarship

The annual gift to support the Associated Students Study Abroad Scholarship was approved by San Diego State University students in the spring of 2008 as part of the Student Activity Fee Referendum. By approving the initiative, students are allowing a percentage of their student activity fee to be used to provide scholarships to San Diego State University students who are studying abroad. This generous decision, made by students for students, will ensure that San Diego State University continues to be a leader in study abroad opportunities.

SDSU students who have applied, or have been accepted, to participate in a study abroad program outside the United States are encouraged to apply for the Associated Students Study Abroad Scholarship. Students who will be conducting research outside the United States also are eligible to apply. Preference will be given to applicants who are participating in an SDSU-sponsored study abroad program, applicants who are participating in programs that award academic credit, and applicants who are pursuing majors or participating in academic programs that require participation in a study abroad program. Application materials will be reviewed by a committee composed primarily of current SDSU students, with an Associated Students staff member serving as the scholarship committee chairperson.

Applications are accepted for the Associated Students Study Abroad Scholarship during two distinct application periods each year. The fall application period opens in mid-August and closes in mid-October. Students who plan to participate in a study abroad program during the 2008-2009 academic year should submit their applications during the fall application period. The spring application period opens in mid-October and closes in early February. Students who plan to participate in a study abroad program during the 2009-2010 academic year should submit their applications during the spring application period. Students who plan to participate in a study abroad program during the summer may submit an application during either application period.
