Atkins Global Inc Presents Grant to San Diego MESA Alliance

Atkins Global Inc. presented a check for $6,500 to San Diego State University’s Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement (SDSU MESA) Engineering program to benefit the Leadership Summit 2013.

The Leadership Summit is an annual weekend camping event with an agenda of seminars, workshops, and group projects designed to develop the leadership, communication, and presentation skills of engineering/physical science students.

MESA is nationally recognized for its innovative and effective academic development program.

MESA engages thousands of educationally disadvantaged students from middle school through a four-year college program.

MESA provides support through classes, hands-on competitions, counseling, and transfer support to help students excel in math and science and graduate with math-based degrees. MESA partners with industry and all major education institutions in California.

11th Annual Leadership Summit

The 11th Annual Leadership Summit took place at the Indian Hills Camp in Jamul on the weekend of March 2 – March 4, 2012.

52 MESA/MESA Engineering Program (MEP)/Maximizing Science Potential (MSP) students from San Diego City College, San Diego State University, Southwestern College, Ventura College, Morse High, Lincoln High, Southwest High, and Calexico High Schools participated in various competitions that promoted the use of their leadership skills and various strengths attributes.

10th Annual Leadership Summit

The 10th Annual Leadership Summit took place at the Indian Hills Camp in Jamul on the weekend of February 11 – February 13, 2011.

49 MESA/MESA Engineering Program (MEP)/Maximizing Science Potential (MSP) students from San Diego City College, San Diego State University, Southwestern College, Crawford High, Morse High, Lincoln High, Mark Twain High, San Pasqual High, Southwest High, and Calexico High Schools participated in various competitions that promoted the use of their leadership skills and various strengths attributes.

Another very special thanks goes to PBS&J for allowing the Leadership Summit to take place with its grant award to SDSU MEP. Without this grant award, the 2011 Leadership Summit would not have taken place.

Upcoming: 2011 Leadership Summit

PBS&J Donates $5,000

With the goal of engaging potential leaders in professional development activities, PBS&J recently granted a $5,000 contribution to the Math, Engineering and Science Achievement (MESA) Alliance in support of MESA’s annual leadership summit. Funding was provided through The PBSJ Foundation, Inc.

8th Annual Leadership Summit

Students from San Diego City College, San Diego State University, Southwestern College, Ventura College, and various high schools involved in the Imperial Valley MESA Schools Program, participated in various competitions that promoted the use of their leadership skills and various strengths attributes.

A very special thanks goes out to SDSU MEP alumna Ms. Dolores Ventura of IEC for her presentation and continued support of the MESA program, as well as PBS&J – without their grant award the Leadership Summit would not be possible. Thank you.
