SDG&E Hosts 2013-2014 Joint Planning Conference for Diversity Focused Engineering and Science Chapters

The San Diego Region Joint Planning Conference for Diversity Focused Engineering and Science Chapters will take place on Friday, August 9, 2013, from 8:00 – 5:00 pm, at San Diego Gas & Electric’s (SDG&E) Energy Innovation Center.

The San Diego MESA Alliance and SDG&E will host a unique event to bring student leaders and professionals together to network, collaborate and exchange ideas for improving science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education.  The event is co-sponsored by the National Society of Black Engineers Professionals San Diego and Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers San Diego Professional Chapter.

This year the conference will be hosted by SDG&E at their Energy Innovation Center in San Diego.  The Energy Innovation Center is a working showcase that demonstrates smart energy initiatives and green building practices, all housed in one unique setting.  The San Diego MESA Alliance aims to increase the number of students to pursue academic and career paths in STEM industries, increase retention in these disciplines, and promote opportunities in post graduate studies.  Together, student and professional leaders will be able to incorporate green career pathways and outreach into their planning for the upcoming academic year.  The conference, which will feature a panel of student officer alumni, is intended to give professional and student leaders from different organizations an opportunity to get together and share their stories, goals and ideas.
