Here is a great summer opportunity to help the environment, serve the community and earn a scholarship to pay for tuition or books.
The best way to reduce pollution from energy is through energy efficiency measures. CFL light bulbs use 75% LESS energy than incandescent bulbs. If everyone in the U.S. switched one light bulb, it would reduce greenhouse gas emissions as much as taking 800,000 cars off the road!
As an AmeriCorps member with Energy Service Corps, you can work on lots of different energy efficiency projects this summer, like teaching kids in summer camp about energy efficiency through fun and interactive lessons; conducting energy efficiency surveys of houses in your neighborhood; creating partnerships with community groups; meeting with local and state officials; working with the media; and more – all in an effort to foster long-term community stewardship and increase energy efficiency.
