Job Description
In our Sr. Software Development Engineer role you will design, develop and test software applications using knowledge of current Microsoft technologies. Business Requirements documentation will be given to you and you will then choose between various alternative procedures based on the situation to accomplish the task. Decisions made in the job affect the completion of the task for the group but ultimately affect the whole division as they affect client satisfaction.
As a Senior Software Engineer – Data Management & BI you will mainly be responsible for:
- Strategically design and implement data warehouses, data marts, and data stores, while ensuring high levels of data availability.
- Be an individual contributor with ability to turnaround minimal requirements to a design and deliver the reporting solution.
- Enhance, develop, and promote standards and good practices around data, reporting, and BI
- Define policies, procedures, and governance for the data warehouse that is aligned with the overall IT strategy.
- To conceptualize, design and assist in the implementation of new and existing DW and BI systems, middleware and production architectures
- Provide technical recommendations for optimized data access and retention for the data warehouse
Primary Duties / Responsibilities:
- Assess and cultivate goals for data warehousing in conjunction with data users, product managers, clients, and other key stakeholders.
- Support and Enhance the existing Data-mart and reporting and enhance and re-engineer to provide better solutions.
- Work with business owners to plan, design, and enhance/develop the data warehouse.
- Support Business Units in the development of a portfolio of BI and Reporting offerings for appropriate market segments.
- Provided an opportunity, lead a team of 2-3 data warehouse team members offshore.
- Develop and maintain the data warehouse ETL processes from various data sources internal and external
- Assist report writers in query performance tuning as requested. Help identify inefficient queries and suggest alternatives.
- Enhance, develop, and promote standards and good practices around data, reporting, and BI
Desired Skills & Experience
- 5+ years’ experience using SQL Server 2005/2008. Highly desirable – Microsoft Certified Technology Specialists (MCTS) on SQL Server 2005/2008 certification.
- Must possess a strong understanding of Microsoft SQL Reporting Services, SQL Server Analytic Services, SQL Server Integration Services and MDX and how to create, deploy and manage reports
- 4+ year’s hands-on experience in Business Intelligence and Decision Support systems.
- 4+ years’ expertise in building data warehouse using top-down or bottom-up approach using snow-flake or star schemas as well as extensive knowledge of OLTP/OLAP technologies.
- Expertise in stored procedure programming, data modeling, performance monitoring and optimization.
- Experience in Insurance Services is a plus.

- Be willing to work off hours and weekends, and make available for deployments or emergency during non-business hours.
Education:
- 4-year degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related technical discipline.
- Certification in MS-SQL Server is a big plus
