VOLUNTEERS NEEDED ON NOVEMBER 7TH, 2009 for the Latina Health Festival in El Cajon!!!
The Health Festival offers FREE:
– Clinical Breast Exams and Mammograms
(For women who qualify 40 years and older, low income,
and uninsured or under-insured).
– Other Health Screenings such as Bone Density, Cholesterol, and HIV/AIDS.
– Children’s Activities

MESA Student Leadership Conference hosted by PG&E

The 6th Annual Student Leadership Conference, “Energizing Your Future!” SDSU MEP students Arielle Nuspl, Pedro Ramos, Emmanuel Hernandez, and Jose Navarro were selected to participate by their MESA Director Theresa Garcia based on their demonstrated potential to be a future leader for their college, the MESA program, and ultimately, in their professional field.

2009 Walk On Water Competition

The 2009 Walk on Water competition was held on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at the Southwestern Community College swimming pool, from 10:00 – 2:00 PM.

There were 75 total attendees, with 14 total teams from La Jolla high school, San Diego City College, Southwestern Community College, San Diego State University, and high schools within the San Diego MESA Schools Program.

Teams of MESA students designed “buoyancy shoes”, and student “shoe pilots” race across the length of the pool. The competition allows students to gain experience at applying applying the engineering design process; solving open-ended problems. Most campuses respective MESA programs’ refunded costs to build the buoyancy shoes that teams created to ‘walk on water’ up to $100.

All applications must be submitted using the HSF online application system. Please note that you can only apply to scholarship programs that are open.
