The Institute for Biology Education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison invites junior and senior undergraduate students interested in research careers in the biological sciences to participate in the Integrated Biological Sciences Summer Research Program (IBS-SRP). As part of the program, students do full-time research for 10 weeks with a faculty member in one of eight disciplinary areas:

Do you know a graduating senior who is passionate about pursuing a career in a physical or biomedical science, but needs additional coursework, training, or research experience before beginning PhD-level work?

The Fisk-Vanderbilt Masters-to-PhD Bridge Program is seeking students with undergraduate majors in physics, chemistry, biology, or other science disciplines, who are motivated to pursue the PhD but require additional coursework, training, and/or research experience. Unlike a post-baccalaureate program, successful students earn a master’s degree upon completion of the program’s requirements. By completing a master’s degree under the guidance of caring faculty mentors, students in the Fisk-Vanderbilt Masters-to-PhD Bridge program develop the strong academic foundation, research skills, and one-on-one mentoring relationships that will foster a successful transition to the PhD. The program is flexible and is individualized to the goals and needs of each student. Courses are selected to address any gaps in academic preparation, and research experiences are provided that allow students to develop — and to demonstrate — their full scientific talent and potential. To date, 92% of students admitted into the Bridge Program have successfully gained admission into a PhD program at Vanderbilt or to another PhD program of their choice.

ACS organizes two national meetings & expositions each year, and each one attracts an estimated 11,000 to 13,000 chemists, chemical engineers, academicians, graduate and undergraduate students, and other related professionals. During the meeting, scientists present new multidisciplinary research, hear the latest information in their areas of professional interest, and network with colleagues. Programming is planned by our 33 technical divisions that cover all scientific fields, secretariats that focus on multidisciplinary programming, and ACS committees. Each meeting will feature more than 7,000 presentations organized into technical symposia that highlight important research advances.

The Syracuse University Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) Research Program is a paid summer research opportunity that provides undergraduate scholars with the opportunity to work with distinguished faculty and staff as well as network with others in their field of interest. Student scholars have the opportunity to conduct and present research over a ten-week period under the direction of a faculty research mentor at Syracuse University.

The application is open for the upcoming 2012 NSF/MESA Summer Team Internship program.

This is a unique paid internship that incorporates a team component into the student internship experience. Hired student interns work on projects in engineering and science firms or for faculty. Summer internships occurred between May through August of 2012, at a minimum of 100 hours. In some cases, employers and/or faculty may extend internships or create other internship opportunities for students (beyond summer 2012).
