Undergraduate Training Program (UTP)

The Center for Health Disparities and Molecular Medicine (CHDMM) of Loma Linda University School of Medicine will host its Undergraduate Training Program (UTP) from June 13 to August 5 of 2011. The UTP is a summer biomedical research internship program for undergraduate students funded by the National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NCMHD), National Institutes of Health (NIH). Selected students will participate as part of a group of about 60 high school, undergraduate, medical, and PhD students in an unforgettable academic experience.

2011 At-Sea Internship Program

This summer approximately twelve internships will be funded by the MATE Center for marine technical internships aboard sea-going research vessels that are part of the University National Oceanographic Laboratory System (UNOLS) and the United States Coast Guard and the Institute For Exploration (www.ife.org). Interns will work with marine technicians on shore and at sea, learning how to operate and maintain a variety of scientific and navigational equipment and support a scientific cruise. These internship opportunities are diverse and will be located throughout the country and even around the world. Past internships opportunities have ranged from onboard chemistry projects, GIS/bathymetric surveys(seafloor mapping), geological studies, work with ROVs and manned submersibles, and much more! Positions last up to 12 weeks, and students will receive a stipend of $400/wk plus the MATE Center covers all travel expenses.

UC Berkeley Amgen Scholars Program

UC Berkeley is pleased to announce the 2011 Amgen Scholars Summer Research Program in Science and Biotechnology. This national program provides participants with the opportunity to conduct research with a faculty member, obtain college research units, and receive a stipend, housing, meal plan, and transportation to and from the UC Berkeley
campus.

NIH COMMUNITY COLLEGE SUMMER ENRICHMENT PROGRAM

We are pleased to announce the 2011 NIH Community College Summer Enrichment Program (CCSEP). The purpose of this program is to increase the number of community college students who participate in the NIH Summer Internship Program (SIP). The long-term goal is to increase the number of community college students who transfer to four-year colleges and universities and consider careers in the biomedical sciences. In addition to performing full-time research in a laboratory or on a project at the NIH, CCSEP interns will meet each week as a group to participate in workshops and courses focused on the development of academic and professional skills in preparation for careers in health care and in social, behavioral, and biomedical research.

Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) Internship

The OHSU Summer Equity Research Program offers an exciting 8 – 10 week summer internship opportunity for college students interested in DENTISTRY, MEDICINE OR RESEARCH. Students will have the opportunity to work with faculty and graduate students in a research setting, to learn new skills, and to gain hands on research experience. Students will attend weekly seminars and meetings with fellow students and faculty to discuss their ongoing projects.
