GETUP: Energy Upgrade Career Training

The career training program focuses on preparing students with the practical skills necessary to become employed in the home performance workforce. The training delivers 3 weeks of hands-on intensive skill-based instruction, culminating in a 40-hour paid ($15/hr.) internship opportunity with a local home performance contracting company. The majority of previous GETUP graduates (60+) have been hired part-time or full-time in the home performance industry following their internship placements.

Learn about electric bicycles

This seminar will provide you with an overview of electric bicycles. Electric bicycles are also known as E-bikes and electric-assist bicycles. Discussion will include how to operate an
E-bike, charging the battery, ownership options and repair highlights. You’’ll also learn about comfort and safety on an E-bike. There will be a Q&A session at the end of the workshop.

HVAC Systems Testing for Energy Efficiency

Today’s technology has made available many portable forms of instrumentation that can be used to evaluate air-conditioning refrigeration systems. System testing, sometimes known as commissioning, refers to getting the data you need to determine whether systems are functioning correctly. This course presents the relevant issues and available methods for field testing HVAC systems, and explores and explains the use of specific instruments.

On Saturday, November 9, 2013, NSBE-Professionals-SD would like to welcome you to an evening of wonder and excitement, celebrating “A Night of Innovation and Ingenuity”

​The NSBE STEM Gala will be a celebration of all that is grand and great in technology! The event will be held at the world famous San Diego Air and Space Museum in beautiful Balboa Park and will feature a Harlem Renaissance Theme devoted to highlighting the giants of “Innovation and Ingenuity” from yesteryear and the new and future pioneers of tomorrow!

There will be beautiful people, dinner and dancing all juxtaposed between the elegance of the Roaring 20’s, a historic period that produced numerous tech innovations that changed our planet. surrounded by many of the icons of flight, space travel and technology that followed and that are now defining and shaping our future!
