U.S. Cyber Challenge at San Jose State this summer

The SJSU camp will be held from August 5 – 10, 2012. At the summer camp, students will engage in web-delivered training sessions and exercises on topics ranging from network intrusion detection to forensics. Classes will be taught by leading industry professionals, faculty members from various universities, security practitioners across industries and the U.S. government. An ethics panel, hosted by FBI representatives, and a career and internship fair with major technology companies and government agencies will be included. The camp will culminate with a “capture the flag” competition in which campers use their newly acquired knowledge to battle live attacks from hackers.

ASCE YMF SD Scholarships

Scholarships Available: (2) $1,000 and (1) $500
Eligibility: Scholarships will be awarded to undergraduate or graduate students continuing his/her education through at
least Fall 2012. Students should be attending the University of California San Diego (UCSD), San Diego State University (SDSU), or a San Diego region community college and transferring to a four-year university.

ExxonMobil LOFT Fellowship

The Fellowship consists of: five 1-hour meetings with mentor (virtual or in person), participation in the Harvard-certified ExxonMobil mentee program (on-line), an exclusive curriculum to introduce Fellows to the organization and company career opportunities, and a $ 1,000 educational grant. In addition, there exists the possibility to interview for ExxonMobil positions (internships/full-time) upon successful completion of the Fellowship.

Public Service Leaders Scholarship Program

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Public Service Leaders Scholarship Program provides undergraduate and graduate level students with a challenging internship opportunity combined with a scholarship. The program is designed to promote public service and create access to higher education. Upon successful completion of program and degree requirements, participants become permanent employees of USDA.

WHITAKER UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM

Grant funding for projects, internships and coursework in biomedical engineering (or bioengineering) overseas.
• Award: amounts range from $7,500 for a semester program to $10,000 for an academic year program.
• Projects: High-quality BME-relevant proposals will be funded, which can include: coursework, research and internships.
• Eligibility: US citizens and residents in their sophomore, junior or senior year with a BME or a closely related major.
• Program must be approved by home institution.

Cesar Chavez Commemorative Scholarship

The intent of the Cesar Chavez Commemorative Scholarship is to alleviate some of the struggles associated within the life a farm worker family, a domestic worker family, or a service worker (in the food, hospitality, construction, or homecare field) family. The selection committee is inter-ested in what motivated you to go to college, how your upbringing influenced your decision, and a description of your financial circumstances as well as a description of how you have or expect to demonstrate the principles of Cesar E. Chavez to help others in the tradition he established.
