MESA Arduino Academy

Note:  This is the San Diego MESA Alliance’s new annual event, as it will be replacing the MESA Olympics & Robotics Competition.

The MESA Arduino Academy is a strengths-based introduction to Arduino technology.  It will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2016, from 8:00-1:30 pm, at San Diego City College.

What is an Arduino?

Arduino is a programmable circuit board that can be used for thousands of different projects and applications. Arduino boards can be programmed to convert inputs – light on a sensor, a finger on a button, or a Twitter message, into outputs – activating a motor, turning on an LED, publishing something online, etc. More importantly, Arduinos are inexpensive, and they only require hardware and software that is easy to-use by anyone from beginners to advanced users.

Arduino Academy: The Plan

The MESA Arduino Academy will provide step-by-step training for getting started with Arduinos. Participants will work in teams to learn how to design, build, program and test Arduino projects.
In addition, using the StrengthsQuest assessment, participants will learn their top 5 most dominant strengths, and they will use their strengths to work more effectively in teams while learning to use the Arduino technology.  Arduino teams will include students from pre-college, community college and university MESA Programs.
