Are you looking for a way to make a difference in your community and are struggling to find an opportunity that works with your schedule? Volunteer to help someone learn English as a Second Language. If you can speak English, then you can make a difference in someone’s life. The Laubach Literacy Council and San Diego County Library’s LEARN Adult Literacy Program are partnering to offer a two-day training for potential literacy tutors. The training is taking place on Saturday, June 9 and Saturday, June 16 from 9:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the 4S Ranch Library, 10433 Reserve Dr.
Tutoring times and locations are flexible and tutors will be matched with an adult learner in need. The training will be taught by Carolyn McGavock, English as a Second Language instructor currently on faculty of San Diego Community College Continuing Education. McGavock has taught ESL to adults since 1991 and has been a featured presenter for the past four years at the READ/San Diego Conferences.
