We are looking for MESA staff/student volunteers for our table at the San Diego Festival of Science & Engineering EXPO Day on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at PETCO Park.

The entire event is from 10:00 – 5:00 pm, but we are seeking volunteers for 2 hour time slots (you can sign up for as long as you’d like).

Hundreds of community businesses and organizations present more than 35 events throughout the county the week leading up to EXPO DAY at PETCO Park. More than 55,000 kids, parents, scientists, educators and community members participate in annual Festival events.

The Festival’s mission is to engage and encourage kids in science and engineering and work with parents and teachers to inspire today’s students to become tomorrow’s science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) innovators.

WHAT DO I DO?
As a volunteer for our table (titled A Green Future: A Green Academy), you would:

1) Raise awareness of the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (S.T.E.M.) education and to inspire San Diego’s youth to pursue education and careers in these rewarding fields by simply sharing your personal experiences.

2) Showcase and help demonstrate our Green Academy light bulb display project and Engineering Research Center prosthetic finger project. Instructions will be available at our table.

Giveaways:
1) Green Academy pens
2) San Diego MESA Alliance flyer

You are strongly recommended to attend If you’ve participated in the Green Academy project or any prosthetic hand related projects (i.e. Engineering Research Center, Leadership Summit, etc.)

Note that the entire event is free, (excluding parking). For more information about the San Diego Festival of Science & Engineering EXPO Day visit http://www.sdsciencefestival.com/kids/expo-day.
