2014 Arduino Design Competition

Participants will be exposed to the use of Arduino technology, including the programming of an Arduino in basic electronic circuits. Additionally, participants will gain experience in teamwork and presentation skills, and, mentored by a Northrop Grumman coach, they will gain an understanding of the engineering design and build process.

2014 Research Academy

Twenty five MESA students (10 from City College, 10 from Southwestern College, 5 from SDSU) will atend a 1-week Research Academy at San Diego State University (SDSU) in July 2014. The Academy is designed as a “trainer the trainer academy for understanding ‘what is research?’” The Academy was originally designed and implemented by 3 SDSU graduate research students in 2012.

The San Diego Region Joint Planning Conference for Diversity Focused Engineering and Science Chapters will take place on Friday, August 1, 2014, from 8:00 – 5:00 pm, at Solar Turbines in the Kearny Mesa region of San Diego, California.

The San Diego Mathematics Engineering Science Achievement (MESA) Alliance and Solar Turbines will host a unique event to bring student leaders and professionals together to network, collaborate and exchange ideas for improving science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education.

13th Annual Leadership Summit

The 13th Annual San Diego MESA Alliance Leadership Summit took place at the Indian Hills Camp in Jamul on the weekend of February 28 – March 2, 2014.

39 MESA/MESA Engineering Program (MEP)/Maximizing Science Potential (MSP) students from San Diego City College, San Diego State University, Southwestern College, and various high schools in the San Diego and Imperial Valley MESA Schools Programs participated in various competitions that promoted the use of their leadership skills and various strengths attributes.
