University of Michigan’s Summer Research Opportunity Program (SROP) in summer 2011. SROP is a great way for you to take part in faculty-lead research projects while exploring doctoral studies at U-M. Students who are admitted into the program will get experience working on a project that faculty are deeply committed to, and which they are currently working on in a range of academic disciplines.

UCSB PhD and MS programs

The Computer Science Department at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) is inviting applications for its PhD and MS programs (application deadline is December 15th). The PhD positions at UCSB are fully funded by the Department. Each admitted student receives either a fellowship, a research assistantship (RA) or a teaching assistantship (TA), or some combination thereof, to cover his/her living and educational expenses. Students can apply to the PhD program directly after obtaining their undergraduate degrees in computer science or in a related field of science or engineering. MS students are not guaranteed funding but many are hired as TAs and some transition to the PhD program.

Science & Engineering majors who are interested in doing research abroad during Summer 2011 should consider the Research Internships in Science and Engineering (RISE) Program in Germany.

RISE participants have the opportunity to work on cutting edge research projects at top research institutions (e.g., Max-Planck-Institutes) and universities in Germany.

LADWP is now accepting applications for the 2011 Student Engineer Program. Eligibility information and applications are available at:
