ExxonMobil LOFT Fellowship

Summer Research Opportunity Program

The Summer Research Opportunities Program (SROP) is a gateway to graduate education. The goal of the program is to increase the number of minority students who wish to pursue graduate studies and/or research careers. SROP helps prepare undergraduates for graduate study through intensive research experiences with faculty mentors and enrichment activities.

NIH SDSU IMSD/MBRS Program

The NIH has awarded additional funds and we are recruiting more undergraduate students “immediately” for the NIH SDSU IMSD/MBRS Program. The goal of the program is to enhance the number of underrepresented students qualified to enter Ph.D. programs. Our NIH IMSD scholars receive pay for research hours (up to $12,000 per year) and other research funds for travel and supplies.

STEM Scholarship program

The STEM Scholarship program is looking for applicants to fund for the Spring 2011 semester. The STEM (Science Technology Engineering & Mathematics) Scholarship program is funded by a NSF grant for providing undergraduate scholarships to talented and under represented students in science, engineering and mathematics disciplines to engage them in research. The scholarships can support undergraduate students for two years. The scholarship amount is $5000 for first year of participation and $6000 for second year of participation if they maintain satisfactory progress in their academic studies and research. The objective of the program is to engage students in research, get them to publish, and transition them successfully to graduate studies. Undergraduate Training Program (UTP)

The Center for Health Disparities and Molecular Medicine (CHDMM) of Loma Linda University School of Medicine will host its Undergraduate Training Program (UTP) from June 13 to August 5 of 2011. The UTP is a summer biomedical research internship program for undergraduate students funded by the National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NCMHD), National Institutes of Health (NIH). Selected students will participate as part of a group of about 60 high school, undergraduate, medical, and PhD students in an unforgettable academic experience.

2011 At-Sea Internship Program

This summer approximately twelve internships will be funded by the MATE Center for marine technical internships aboard sea-going research vessels that are part of the University National Oceanographic Laboratory System (UNOLS) and the United States Coast Guard and the Institute For Exploration (www.ife.org). Interns will work with marine technicians on shore and at sea, learning how to operate and maintain a variety of scientific and navigational equipment and support a scientific cruise. These internship opportunities are diverse and will be located throughout the country and even around the world. Past internships opportunities have ranged from onboard chemistry projects, GIS/bathymetric surveys(seafloor mapping), geological studies, work with ROVs and manned submersibles, and much more! Positions last up to 12 weeks, and students will receive a stipend of $400/wk plus the MATE Center covers all travel expenses.
