Space Scholars Program

The Space Scholars Program invites four-year college graduates through PhD-level students in the areas of science and engineering to participate in a unique summer program that may lead to graduate fellowships and full-time employment. These opportunities exist in the Air Force Research Laboratory’s (AFRL) Space Vehicles Directorate, which has facilities at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Genome Institute at Washington University, St. Louis

Opportunities in Genomics Research (OGR). The OGR programs are directed to increasing the number of underrepresented students who pursue Ph.D.’s in genomics and related fields. OGR provides students with a mentored research experience at Washington University, as well as other engaging activities to prepare students for competitive Ph.D. programs. We have two OGR programs that may be of interest to your students, Undergraduate Scholars, an eight-week summer program and Extensive Study, a one-year post-baccalaureate program. Both programs include conducting research with premier investigators in genomics and genetics as well as disciplines such as: cancer biology, molecular biology, immunology, and others. We provide a competitive stipend/salary, housing (summer program only), and travel to St. Louis.

Senior Process Engineering opening

Assigned to Network LAN, CO and RF Product Design and Manufacturing Team, this position provides process and New Product Introduction (NPI) support for the development, design, testing, launch and sustaining of LAN, CO and RF components. It will include the research and development of new processes as well as improving and sustaining of existing processes. The processes may include automation, tooling, fixtures, test software, test fixtures, and solving process problems related to design and manufacturing methods. This role will include day to day support at both a local facility and an offshore high volume manufacturing facility.

MESA Research Academy, funded by the California Space Grant Consortium

Twenty MESA students (10 from City College and Southwestern College, each) attended a 1-week Research Academy at San Diego State University (SDSU) in July 2012. The Academy was designed as a “trainer the trainer academy for understanding ‘what is research?'” The Academy was designed and implemented by 3 SDSU graduate research students.
